How we earned global attention for the Junk Raft project
Two California men — with the help of Pop Culture PR (www.popculturepr.com) — sail to Hawaii on a boat made from junk to bring awareness to ocean pollution around the world.
A project of the Algalita Marine Research Foundation, the JUNK raft successfully sailed from Long Beach, CA to Hawaii to call attention to a major oceanic environmental problem – the accumulation of plastic trash in the seas.
Pop Culture PR landed coverage on CNN, USA Today, PBS Newshour, NBC-TV, Expedition News and dozens of other mass consumer media outlets in one of the most successful green PR efforts of 2008.
