Moonshot Mission: To Rename + Rebrand
J.M.W. Sales just didn’t sound inspiring. Especially for a company selling $100 million a year in the most popular mass STEM toys in America. So, Pop Culture PR set off to capture the sense of wonder and curiosity behind the company with a new name that reflected the company’s culture of endless curiousity in Ashland, Oregon.
‘Blue Marble’
For over a decade, the team had been honoring the awesomeness of the Earth with inspiring products and exciting collaborative activities for kids. What name would capture it? In 1972, NASA’s Apollo 17 crew captured the first high-resolution photo of the planet from space. Dubbed the “Blue Marble Shot,” this iconic image changed the way us humans thought about our planet, and about our place in the world. This awe-inspiring image showed the beauty, fragility, and interconnectedness of the earth, and it reminds us that no matter our differences, we all share a home on this wonderful planet.
